Reservation terms & house rules

Terms

A good evening begins long before the first glass reaches the table. Here you'll find how reservations at Hannelore work and what we can all rely on, so that every evening works out for every guest.

What this is about

These terms apply to table reservations and pre-orders at Hannelore, Dorotheergasse 6-8, 1010 Vienna, whether you book via our website, WhatsApp, email, text message, by phone or in the chat. They also apply to your visit.

Your contractual partner is Hannelore Bar GmbH, Kärntnerstraße 12/Top 14/15, 1010 Vienna, Austria (company register no. FN 537962 x, Commercial Court Vienna), reachable at office@hannelore-vienna.com. For private parties and events, the conditions we send you with the respective offer apply in addition.

The contract languages are German and English.

How your reservation comes about

On our website you choose the date, party size and time and enter your contact details. You see your details in an overview as you go and can correct any part with a tap before sending. By sending, you request the reservation from us.

Often we can confirm right away. Sometimes we first hold the table for you as an option, for example when we want to look at a request personally or you still need to confirm something. An option always states a deadline; until then the table is held for you. If the deadline passes, we release the table and let you know.

Your reservation is binding as soon as we confirm it. You receive the confirmation via the channel you chose, for example email or WhatsApp. It contains the details of your reservation; please keep it. We store your reservation as described in our privacy policy; you receive its text with the confirmation.

Online you can book up to two hours before your arrival and up to 60 days ahead, for groups of up to ten. For larger parties we look forward to your event request. We seat you in a way that suits your group and the evening; there is no entitlement to a particular table or area. We gladly pass on your wishes and accommodate them wherever we can.

Arrival and table time

We hold your table for 30 minutes after the agreed time. If you are running late, just let us know and we will almost always find a way. Without a message, we may give the table to other guests after that.

We tell you your table time when you book. If you would like to stay longer, simply ask our team; if the table is not booked afterwards, we are happy to extend. Every evening ends at closing time at the latest.

Minimum spend

Some areas have a minimum spend at certain times. It is not an entrance fee but a minimum turnover for your table, applying to the whole reservation, not per person. The amount includes VAT, and everything you order on your reservation that evening counts towards it in full, including at the bar.

We always tell you the exact amount before you book, and we only reserve such a table once you have expressly agreed to it. It is also stated in your confirmation. If your spend at the end of the evening stays below the agreed amount, we charge the difference.

The minimum spend only applies if you come and take your table. If you cancel, do not come, we cannot admit you, or we seat you in an area without a minimum spend, we charge nothing.

The amount applies as agreed at the time of your reservation; later changes to our prices or rules do not affect your booking. You will find our prices on the menu.

Cancelling and changing

Plans change, we understand. You can cancel your reservation free of charge at any time, most easily via the link in your confirmation, or by writing to us through the channel you booked with. The earlier you cancel, the sooner someone else can enjoy the table.

If you would like to change the date, time or party size, let us know; we will gladly arrange it if there is space. Online, you cancel the old reservation and book again.

We do not charge fees for cancellations or no-shows. A minimum spend applies to some tables. Where we have asked for it as a deposit in advance, it is a deposit on your drinks and is fully credited on the evening. If you cancel within the stated period or we have to cancel, we refund the deposit in full; if you do not show up without cancelling, it is forfeited. If someone does not turn up without cancelling, we confirm their future reservations personally rather than automatically.

In rare cases we have to cancel too, and only for good reason, for example an official closure, a technical failure or force majeure. We will then let you know as early as possible and tell you why; a paid pre-order is refunded in full.

Pre-orders

You can pre-order bottles and packages with your reservation. Whether you pay online in advance (by card or eps) or on site is shown before you order. With online payment, the purchase is only concluded via the button that takes you to the order with obligation to pay, and once payment succeeds. From the payment link onwards the order is fixed; if you want to change it, we send you a new one.

If you do not pay within the stated deadline, only the pre-order lapses; your reservation remains. If you cancel your reservation more than 24 hours before arrival, a paid pre-order is refunded automatically and in full. If you cancel later, please get in touch; we will still refund the amount paid in full.

Right of withdrawal

Reservations and pre-orders are catering and leisure services for a specific evening. Under § 18 (1) no. 10 of the Austrian Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG) there is no statutory right of withdrawal for them. We are nonetheless happy to grant you the free cancellation described above.

House rules: so the evening works for everyone

Hannelore is a place for adults: entry is for guests aged 18 and over only, and we ask you to bring photo ID. There is a good reason our cocktails are only served from 18.

Dress as you would for a special evening: elegant, well-groomed, with style, anywhere from business casual to chic. Dress, skirt or smart trousers, shirt or polo, jacket, good jeans, elegant shoes or clean, stylish sneakers: your look may be your own. Traditional dress after a Kirtag or Wiesn is warmly welcome too. Sporty casual wear such as tracksuits, sweatpants, jerseys, tank tops, caps (head coverings worn for religious or health reasons are of course welcome), ripped or very baggy trousers and flip-flops are best left at home that evening. We are delighted to host bachelor and bachelorette parties, just without matching group shirts or costumes. It is not the brand that matters but that your outfit suits the evening.

At the door we pay attention to a few things so that everyone inside feels at ease: how full it is, whether clothing matches our dress code, and whether someone has clearly had too much to drink or is aggressive, disruptively loud or disrespectful towards our team or other guests. When we are full, we sometimes cannot invite anyone in without a reservation, even if everything fits; your reserved table remains yours in any case. If we cannot let someone in, we kindly say why.

Everyone is equally welcome with us, regardless of origin, skin colour, religion, belief, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Anyone who demeans or harasses others will no longer be our guest that evening.

There is no smoking anywhere inside, including e-cigarettes, heated tobacco or shishas. Please do not bring your own food or drinks. Dogs stay at home for the evening; assistance dogs are of course welcome.

Sometimes we photograph or film the atmosphere in the venue for our website and social media. We only show you recognisably if you agree beforehand; if you later withdraw your consent, we take the picture down. Please also respect the privacy of other guests.

Our team exercises the house rules. Please follow their guidance; anyone who spoils the evening for others may be asked to leave.

Liability and cloakroom

We are liable for damage caused by us or our team in accordance with the statutory provisions.

If you use our cloakroom, we look after your coat carefully. Please keep valuables such as money, jewellery, keys or electronics with you.

Finally

Austrian law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protection of the country you live in. Claims against you can only be brought where you live, are habitually resident or work; you yourself can sue us at any court provided by law, including at our seat in Vienna.

Anything we additionally promise you, whether in writing, in the chat or on the phone, applies just the same. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If you have any questions or concerns, simply write to office@hannelore-vienna.com; we will happily find a solution together.
